Omroep West is a Dutch regional broadcaster headquartered in The Hague. In 2012, the channel received 10 million euros from the Dutch government. It has 2 transmitters: Radio West founded in 1987 broadcasts on 89.3 FM and TV West was founded in 1996. The two channels merged in 2002. Omroep West collaborates with Unity FM in Leiden and Stadsomroep Den Haag in The Hague.
TV West is a community TV station covering what happened in the South Holland area with news, entertainment, politics and local events such as Leids Ontzet on 3 October in Leiden and KoninginneNach on 26 April in The Hague.
The broadcaster in its current form exists since 2001, after a merger of two different broadcasting companies: Radio West and TV West. Radio West has been broadcasting since 1 January 1987.
Omroep West cooperates intensively with local broadcasters in The Hague municipality (Den Haag FM), Westland municipality (Stichting WOS), Leiden municipality (Omroep Sleutelstad) and Alphen aan den Rijn municipality (Studio Alphen). These local broadcasters are referred to as 'mediapartners' in quotes.
